Our calculator displays all the pretty numbers stuff, while our API is the beast that powers it. We encourage you to get under the hood and create new and exciting experiences.<\/p>\n

Now, figuring all this carbon debt malarkey out and making sure that the underlying platform is stable and capable of dealing with a hefty volume of requests can be taxing.<\/p>\n

As an example, did you know that the price of carbon is different all around the world? We have the EU ETS Price<\/a> and the Global Carbon Index<\/a>, just to name a couple.<\/p>\n

To add insult to injury, the price of a tonne of carbon can range anywhere from $5 to $100. Getting to a global consensus isn\u2019t really a thing.<\/p>\n

This is a particularly sticky problem for companies trying to meet their Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) targets, especially if there\u2019s a variance in cost of carbon from different providers.<\/p>\n

With a low quote – less than $10 a tonne – one can assume that price sensitivity is prioritised above the real world traceable and auditable quality.<\/p>\n

This can create friction as businesses feel the pressure in trying to meet internal targets and create a positive external narrative.<\/p>\n

Business leaders need to be made of strong and decent stuff to ensure that carbon offsets are traceable, or perhaps find a balance that\u2019s acceptable.<\/p>\n

Onto the crypto side of things.<\/p>\n

For every request, we need to keep an eye on the market price of a DOV token and check the total of all of your Ethereum transactions. It’s a little bit of juggling to make it as efficient as possible.<\/p>\n

The thing is, you can\u2019t just count the transactions; you\u2019ll get a rough estimate, that isn\u2019t good enough. The actual gas that an address has consumed over its lifetime is what matters.<\/p>\n

So, with that in mind, we know that we cannot be 100% accurate in our estimates but like anything in life, we are always moving forward and striving to get better. We are growing. We are learning.<\/p>\n
